Design Achievement Awards 2005

Seattle Homes & Lifestyles and the Seattle Design Center have joined forces for the third year in a row to honor professionals whose contributions to design are changing the shape of our city. Awards were presented in the areas of architecture, interior design, landscape design and one other design-related field—or, as was the case this year, two, because there was a tie in this category. The jury consisted of past Design Achievement Award winners, including architect Jay Deguchi, interior designer Janice Viekman, landscape architect David Pfeiffer and Stefan Gulassa, designer/manufacturer of furniture and architectural accessories. Also serving on the jury were independent curator Margery Aronson, garden writer Linda Plato, interior designer Randall Scott Thomas as well as SH&L’s editor Heather Paper and art director Shawn Williams. Our thanks to the jurors, as well as Kelly Michaels, Kipepeo Brown and Melissa Hansen from SDC, and Jill Mogen, SH&L publisher.

Congratulations to all five of this year’s winners, whom you’ll meet on the following pages.
